GD-1 Tape and Hard Drive Degausser

The GD-1 Professional Degausser is specifically designed to erase higher-coercivity media, such as hard
drives* and DLT’s (DLT I-IV). Additionally, the GD-1 effectively erases all metal particle formats such as AIT,
DLT I-IV, Beta SP, Beta SX, Digital BetaCam, D1-D5, 3590, 3490 and more.
Please note: hard drives are NOT reusable once degaussed. Due to the hundreds of media formats the GD-1 will
erase, not all formats are mentioned. Please call 1-800-367-3054 if you have questions regarding your specific format.
For long-lasting performance, the degaussing coils are vacuum dipped and baked. The vacuum process
draws the air out of the coil allowing the potting compound to coat each winding of the coil. The coil is then
baked “rock hard” to eliminate the vibrations that could eventually lead to shorts in the windings of the coil. In
addition, two thermal detection units have been wound into each coil to ensure that the operating temperature
is safely maintained. When in operation, the coils are cooled by a fan that is automatically turned on and off
by signals being sent from the thermal detection units.
* Due to shielding and proprietary advancements in coercivity levels of the data platters in hard drives,
some hard drives may have to be disassembled before degaussing on the GD-1.
